While doing research for her new book, author Emma Sparks becomes intrigued with the BDSM lifestyle. When Emma meets Markus, a soft-spoken Dominate, he agrees to guide her through his world as she becomes more and more curious and as Emma and Markus' friendship deepens, she discovers that her deepest and darkest desires are beginning to surface. The story begins with a straight-forward theme; Emma Locke is a budding author (aren't we all) doing research on a subject she feels strongly drawn to understand on more than a once-removed level of clicking through fetish websites on her computer.Daniel is an adoring husband in every way, but he fails to understand the new passion coming awake in his wife's mind as her research takes her on a more personal journey into the world of BDSM. When Emma asks him to be "more demanding" with her in their lovemaking, his common-core upbringing will not let him go beyond the normal accepted practices of sexual intimacy.
Enter Marcus Adams, a handsome younger man who responds to Emma's on-line questions about the Dominate/submissive lifestyle she seeks answers to. At first the questions are at arms length, but soon Emma puts her picture up on her site and innocent e-mails become a date to meet personally.
There is much more soul searching here and the questions of right and wrong get asked frequently, as well as trying to justify personal wants and needs versus family values that must stay intact. All these questions of morality are handled well by the author.
And then one day Marcus asks Emma to go with him to a party at a BDSM dungeon. All the talking is over, it is time for her to step outside her safe zone! There is no more wondering what Ms Bell has in store for Emma from this moment on as she tells Marcus, "Yes, I will go with you."
Emma's CURIOUS life is over. Her AWAKENING is about to begin.

This was my first book by this author and I totally loved it. The writing style made it super way to read and I found myself flying thru it. The anticipation of what u know is coming is very exciting. Loved it. Now I'm off to read the second one 😊
I read all of the books in this series and one word comes to mind WOW. Excellent written books with glimpse into an alternate life style that few can understand and less dare to talk about. Filled with the struggles of everyday life a dedicated mom and wife tries to find herself, she feels she has a purpose once again as she begins on a journey of becoming an author. Her research leads her to an unknown world. While trying to balance the two she finds who she really is. Each book can be read with out needing to read the other two but to get the big picture take my advice and read all three. You will not be sorry, as the ending of the third book is a surprise.
When I first came across this book, I knew I needed to read it. Seeing the character Emma get lured into the world of bdsm by way of doing research was an interesting concept that was well executed by the author. I could feel the pull within Emma’s character and how it feel alive again. Everything about the book itself had me wanting to read the next page, and this was just the beginning. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
I think I have a new book crush & his name is Markus! I thoroughly enjoyed this story about Emma & Markus. Very much looking forward to what happens with these two!
Emma, a bored housewife is researching the BDSM scene for a book she is writing and in the process meets Markus. Markus begins to awaken a part of Emma & she begins to feel the excitement of being introduced into his world. The tension and suspense in this book has you wanting more of Markus and Emma!!
Although this was my first book by this author, it will not be my last! Loved, loved this book and can not wait to read more of Markus!!

I didn't know when I started it would be a cliff hanger but I'm glad the other books following this one are already out. I really don't like being kept in the dark at the end of a book.
With that out of the way, let me say the story is easy to read and follow. I could feel Emma's anxiety build as the story progressed and since it's done as a flashback, I know where it's headed. She's stuck in a difficult dilemma but has brought the problems on herself. I'm anxious to see where the D/s relationship goes.
How do I write a review for a story I feel was written just for me.....minus the Dom/sub.All of Emma's thoughts and words are all my FEELINGS about my life and husband.It was like Ava dug deep into my brain and put it all on paper.Without a doubt I truly enjoyed this book.Im looking forward to Emma's furture and life as she learns all about BDSM life style to write her book.I can see there is more then just this book she wants to write,I think perhaps she found her calling.Or maybe those are not the right words...Emma has found HERSELF!!!! Which I envy soo much.What I wouldn't do to be Emma for 24 house.Im so looking forward to the next book and see where this journey takes her.
I thought this was a great read. Loved the story and look forward to reading the next books in the series to find out more about Markus and Emma's story. This book held my attention all the way thru it and I had a hard time putting it down. Ava is am amazing author, with an an uncanny way of making you feel as if you are simply talking with the characters, instead of reading a story.
I fell in love with Emma right from the start. What started as basic curiosity, and moved into self discovery Emma finds a part of herself after meeting Markus. Markus is a kind and yet assertive gentleman who shows Emma the ways of BDSM. This story had me questioning loyalty, but cheering for empowerment.
I know there is more to Markus and Emma's story, and I recommend you to take that journey.
